Radiohead erupts blogosphere
There are few things that cause quite a stir like even the rumor of a Radiohead album. So imagine eveyone's reaction this weekend when they found out the coy boys were releasing their 7th full-length, In Rainbows, this very October 10th. That's right, 10/10, in spite of it's terrible name and trendy bright-color look that all the hot shots(see Bjork, Kanye West) seem to be into right now. I'm seriously disappointed. Whether or not this date is correlated to the release of the awesome biopic of Ian Curtis, Control, on the same day is uncertain. But those of you waiting for concrete In Rainbows material will have to wait till December as the album will only be available digitally. Those who wait will be rewarded nicely, though it is probably pointless to get the album in December unless you own a turn table since it will be released as a super duper deluxe package(that's the real name). It will include a double vinyl of the album, a CD copy, an extra CD with bonus tracks, a vinyl of the bonus tracks, a digital download, along with artwork, photos, lyrics booklets, etc. And it's only $81!!! For those of you who don't want to spend one entire paycheck on one record album, the CD itself will be released sometime in early 2008. Whether or not a label will be involved or if Radiohead will release it independently is uncertain. I know what you're thinking: releasing the album 3 different ways is a way for Radiohead to abuse capitalism -and us. Well in their defense, any payment for the digital version on Oct. 10th is optional...though one can assume they will still get handsome money for it. But it's Radiohead, so it's OK right? I mean if Smashing Pumpkins do it, it's unethical. But it's not Smashing Pumpkins -or any other band. It's Radiohead and they can abuse us all they want. We don't mind.
You may go here starting October 10th for the Radiohead goodness -and no sooner
